2-Night, 1-Day Cairo Tour by Sleeper Train from Luxor

Start your journey at 9:30pm with a transfer in air-conditioned comfort to Luxor station, where you'll board your deluxe sleeper train in good time for an 11pm departure. Well-rested, you'll arrive in Cairo at 9am, where your Egyptologist guide will greet you in air-conditioned minivan.

Your first stop is the wonderful Egyptian Museum, home to over 100,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts. The priceless treasures of King Tutankhamen are the highlight here, from his six gilded coffins to his magnificent death mask.

Next, it's time to unwind with a 45-minute trip on a traditional felucca sailing boat. Admire the sights of Cairo and the pretty Nile islands as you catch the fresh breeze from what's probably the world's longest river.

It's back in the van for the short journey out to the desert plateau of Giza, just outside Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, admire the three pyramids built by Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure: you can choose to climb inside one of them (own expense) should you wish. Next, view the Sphinx, an enigmatic half-lion half-human statue that remains a symbol of Egypt to this day.

Enjoy a buffet lunch spread at a Nileside restaurant, with included soft drinks. After lunch, it's time to discover some traditional Egyptian crafts and perhaps shop for souvenirs. Visit a perfume factory, and learn the secrets of Arabian scent. Watch papyrus being crafted from reeds just as it was in ancient times.

Laden down with gifts, you'll drive back to Giza train station in good time to catch your 8pm return sleeper to Luxor: enjoy dinner on board the train. Your driver will greet you on arrival at 5:20am and transfer you back to your hotel.
