Castles and fortresses

A day tour around castles and fortresses of “Golden horseshoe”: Oleskyi, Pidhoretskyi, Zolochivskyi castles as well as Saint Vasylian monastery in Pidhirtsi will reveal their secrets to you. Who knows, maybe it’s you who’ll be lucky enough to meet mysterious White Lady or enigmatic Monk, wondering the streets of Zolochiv? Despite all of this, we’ll feel the greatness and power of the ancient past in the old walls of castle buildings.

The first castle on the way is Oleskyi castle - impregnable fortress located on the hill surrounded by park, which keeps the memory of famous people like Bogdan Khmelnytskyi, Jan III Sobieski, Zhyvuski family. The nest of rooms will open for you the paintings of Ukrainian and European artists, works of art of "Ukrainian Michelangelo" called Pinzel, and carved wooden furniture.

Pidhoretskyi Castle – is the most beautiful park-palace in Ukraine, built in the best traditions of French and Italian art. The "Ukrainian Versailles", a place for recreation and leisure was built especially for ruling Hetmans, including European monarchs: Polish King Wladyslaw IV and Jan III Sobieski, the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph, the German Kaiser Wilhelm.

Is it a fortress, a royal residence, a manor, a prison or a school? Today Zolochivsky Castle – is a museum, a Renaissance military complex with entrance tower, and a large residential with Chinese palace that is a unique three of the kind architectural monuments in Europe (Peterhof, Sans Souci and Zolochiv).
