PICOS, POTES & SOPLAO CAVE

DESCRIPTION

We will leave from Santander towards Fuente Dé at 8:00 where we will arrive around 10:00 am. We will take the cable car in Fuente Dé to go up to the upper station of the cable car (it will only take us 4 minutes to be at a height of 1,823m above sea level). The breathtaking views from this place are simply guaranteed. We will spend there about 1 hour to take photos of the place and to explore the closest surroundings of the station.

After this first stop, we will go to Potes. But before we will make a small stop to visit the Monastery of Santo Toribio. This is one of the four Holy places in the world that offer the Jubilee in Perpetuum. The importance of this monastery is due to the fact that it houses the Lignum Crucis, which is the largest piece of wood of the Cross of Jesus that is preserved.

Our next stop will be in the village of Potes, where we will walk through its streets and where we will take a break for lunch. Potes is the capital of Liébana and is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

After lunch, we will continue our trip towards Rionansa to see the Cave of El Soplao. This cave houses one of the most impressive speleothem formations in Europe. It will be a 1 hour guided tour through the cave and we are also sure you will love it!

Finally, we will lead towards Santander where we will be arriving around 19:00 pm.
