The House of the Bakery was built by Diego Sillero around 1590, but of this building only the basement and the ground floor are conserved. However, it is the model copied by the rest of the buildings in the square. Among the many functions he has had include that of Tahona Principal de la Villa, which set the price of bread so that those most in need could acquire it, royal apartments, Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and Academy of History. It is currently the headquarters of the Tourism Center of Madrid. The decoration that we can see on the facade has not been the same over the years, due to the reforms and renovations. The mural paintings that cover the building today are the work of Carlos Franco, which distinguishes mythological figures related to the history of Madrid as the goddess Cibeles.
