Semi Private Farm Fresh Day Trip: Olive Groves, Wine And Cheese

Following our 9:00 am the departure from Madrid we’ll drive for about one hour southwards to our first stop. During this driving time, the guide will prepare you with some basic background knowledge about the themes of the day. Our first destination is a Manchego sheep cheese producer. His sheep roam around freely on extensive pasturage in the company a shepherd. The milk of such happy and healthy animals is being used for curing different types of delicious cheeses. We will visit the production and storage facilities with the owner and enjoy a generous guided tasting. From here it is only a short drive to the olive oil producer where we'll take a stroll between century-old olive trees and learn all about what it takes to produce good and healthy olive oil. Following the olive oil tasting, we'll enjoy our lunch in the shade of those trees. Our meal consists of traditional tapas-style food: selected cured meats and cheeses, olives, tomato salad, bread with fresh tomato spread and olive oil and Spanish tortilla (sort of like a quiche). After lunch, we'll head to the third farm: a beautiful winery. We will walk over to the vineyards and listen to the essentials of the wine region and the ABC of grape growing before visiting the facilities and barrel rooms. Obviously, we will not leave without tasting a variety of different well-rounded wines. We only visit small producers, and the likelihood to enjoy private visits with the owners is very high. Of course, all that you taste throughout the day is available for purchase.
