About this activity
In this Spanish wine tasting you will taste very unique wines from regions other than the typical Rioja or Ribera del Duero that you can find in most of Spanish restaurants or back at your home cities. An experience not only for people interested in Spanish wine but to everyone who enjoys seen his wine knowledge challenged. Relaxed and casual atmosphere to taste, learn and talk over some snacks.

Our Spanish wine tasting is held at a tavern near the Retiro park (the core of Madrid avant gard gastronomy), conducted by a sommelier and wine journalist with 10 years experience in wine divulgation. The one and only open Spanish wine tasting in Madrid in English. A unique and exclusive activity for wine lovers. Wines carefully selected that will make you understand the great variety that exists in Spain.

We do not have agreements with wineries and our sommeliers choose the wines for their organoleptic properties that will delight your palate and widen your wine horizons.

It was great! The sommelier was very informative. The wines were very unique and gave a wide variety of Spanish wines. I would highly recommend this.

While obviously knowledgeable, the guide was a bit condescending towards some of the participants including me. If one tried to insert a comment or opinion about the wines, he was quick to dismiss it. I understand that Spanish men can be a bit macho, but he was a little over the top. The restaurant was lovely, and the tapas that were served were of top quality. Most of the wines ere interesting choices, and I did learn quite a bit about Spanish fines.

This was a must for me while in Madrid. The instructor was excellent — knowledgeable about the wines and very personable. I would highly recommend this event for anyone wanting to learn the basics about Spanish wines while learning more about the culture of Madrid!

This was one of the best experiences we had in Madrid. It was a pleasure to spend the time with someone who was so knowledgable about his subject. Jamie is a true expert and this was above what one would normally expect at a wine tasting. Bought 2 of his recommended wines to bring home. He was also helpful in giving us a recommendation for eating lunch afterwards at a restaurant very close by.

We really enjoyed our experience with Jaime and Gourmet Madrid. We met Jaime at a nearby restaurant, La Notaria and - as had been clearly explained in the lead-up email communications from the Gourmet Madrid team - we headed to the Gourmet Madrid offices for the tasting. Jaime really helped us understand the different regions of Spain, the wine quality ladder VP, DOC, DO, VT and Vino de Mesa, where certain wine types/grape varietals come from domestically and how those elements all connect with the nose, taste and finish of the wines we tried. This is especially interesting given the wide-ranging level of temperature and precipitation within the Spanish wine-making regions. We found setting intimate as our tasting had only one other couple. Jaime provided very generous pours and great other recommendations locally. He was more than generous with his time as well, which we were so appreciative of as well as an additional reduced rate offer for two other tours that were available during our visit as well. Thanks for the wonderful tasting, Jaime and Gourmet Madrid!
