About this activity
Greet your local guide at Joy Eslava (Calle Arenal 11), to begin an evening of epicurean delights. Head straight to an 150 year old bar for a vermouth aperitif and historic cod fritters, a local delicacy.

On your way to the next venue, your guide will point out historical landmarks and provide an overview of Madrid’s ancient past. Then, duck into a critically acclaimed tapas bar to sample chorizo-stuffed mushrooms washed down with tinto de verano, Madrid’s favorite way to drink wine in the hot summer months.

Wander to the exact point upon which Madrid was founded a whopping 1,500 years ago before settling down at a century-old tavern to taste sizzling garlic shrimp paired with their house red wine. Final stops rotate between two local favorites to give guests a local yet comfortable experience.

Jake, the guide, was fantastic. Really knowledgeable and engaging. Lots of personalities in the group and he catered for all. The trip was well thought out with enough stops so that four hours of walking is not too tiring. Plenty of food and drinks and although I thought it was expensive before going, actually it’s very good value indeed. Thoroughly recommended, sufficiently so that we will look for Devour tours when we visit other cities and hope they are all of the same standard.
