About this activity

Unforgetably delicious and a great experience!

In Malaga, it’s all about enjoyment: The city’s sheltered location between the mountains and the sea on Southern Spain’s sunny Costa del Sol guarantees a pleasant climate and rich harvests. The culinary heritages of the Phoenicians, Romans and Moors created a varied and delicious cuisine, and, of course, the world-famous Malaga wine. Specialities from all over the Mediterranean and the Andalusian hinterland offer an irresistible choice of delicacies, served with the warm and friendly hospitality typical of the area in countless tapas bars and restaurants.

Follow the example of Malaga’s most famous sons, Pablo Picasso and Antonio Banderas: Spoil yourself with local tapas, dishes, beverages and traditions, and feel the vibe of authentic Malaga on our tour.

Your Food Hopping event is like a multi-course meal: You experience a new location and taste a different food or drink speciality with each course - accompanied by amusing anecdotes about this “pearl” of the Costa del Sol!

Some highlights of your Food Hopping food tour Málaga:

  • Join us on a trip back in time to Malaga’s oldest bar, which is like a living museum. Large barrels, cranky barmen who fill your glass to the rim, and the tally kept with chalk on the counter. You can immerse yourself in Malaga’s “liquid heritage” and follow the footsteps of countless locals and celebrities who have visited since 1840.
  • In the heart of the city yet hidden away, your Food Hopping guide shows you a place with the charm of an old village shop. Here, everything can be bought and taken home with you - even the dining tables and chairs! Surrounded by local treasures, handicrafts and antiques, you hear how the former ceramic factory became a popular neighbourhood get together. The matching taste experience, with golden olive oil and local cold cuts, is just a few meters away.
  • There is little evidence from the outside, but, behind the thick white walls, at this hidden gem one of Andalusia’s most important customs is kept alive: with pointed hats, medieval robes and religious artifacts. The “penance brotherhood” is equally passionate about religious rites and culinary traditions – you get to enjoy homemade croquetas in a truly special place.
  • At the other stops, you’ll feel the beat of the delicious Heart of Malaga at an ancient dockyard, learn why shopkeeper Francisco and his sons would loose their business by changing only one letter of the shop’s nameplate, taste the best ham in the world served by “cats” between bullfight posters and a padded toro, savour the signature dish of a true rice master under sun sails in a lovely patio, sample a local delight in a beautiful hidden park, and much, much more.
