About this activity
We will pick you up from your hotel in Mandalay and transfer in the direction of Amarapura (around 15 kilometers south of Mandalay, 30 minutes by car.

Amarapura was Myanmar’s penultimate Royal Capital and is the first stop today before moving on to our next destination. Our tour starts at the Mahagadayon Monastery, a famous Buddhist monastery where more than a thousand monks live and study.

Continue afterwards to the iconic U Bein teak bridge built in 1782 when Amarapura was Royal Capital. Spanning the Taungthaman Lake, this 1.2 kilometer long bridge is the longest teak footbridge in the world. It is often busy with locals ‘commuting’ back and forth which makes for an attractive photo opportunity. Following our path further, we head out toe Bagaya Monastery, known for its superb collection of Buddha statues.

As the region is well-known for its handicraft industry, particularly for silk and cotton weaving and bronze casting, optional stops (time permitting) can be organized to witness the skills of these artisans on the way back to Mandalay. This tour includes return back to your hotel in Mandalay.
