Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - Tinerhourhine (L, D)
After pickup from your Marrakech hotel at about 8:30am, travel by private vehicle south toward the High Atlas Mountains. After approximately 2-hours, arrive in the village of Imlil beneath the Atlas’ highest peak, Jebel Toukbal. Meet your guide and mule team, hire trekking poles (own expense) if required, and after your luggage is loaded, begin your trek.
Follow mule paths through lush valleys, passing gurgling streams and admiring the spectacular High Atlas peaks. Pass the village of Tamatert, and enjoy lunch in the cool Tizi n’ Tamatert pass, at 7,477 feet (2,279 meters) before walking to Ouanesekra-Tamguist and the Berber village of Tinerhourhine. Enjoy dinner and spend tonight in a gite. Approximate walking time: 4 hours. Overnight: Gite in Tinerhourhine
Day 2: Tinerhourhine - Ikkiss - Aït Assa (B, L, D)
After breakfast, walk through the Imnane Valley, passing pine, juniper, and walnut groves, and stopping for photos at Ikkiss, perhaps meeting some villagers to learn about Berber life. Next, trek to Tizi n’Aguersioual, and after lunch at Matate at 6,562 feet (2,000 meters), continue to Aït Aïssa for dinner and overnight at a gite. Approximate walking time: 6-7 hours. Overnight: Gite in Aït Aïssa
Day 3: Ait Assa - Imlil - Marrakech (B, L)
Following breakfast, leave for Tizi Oussem, admiring the stunning views from the Tizi Mzik pass at 7,874 feet (2,400 meters) before descending to Mzik village. Savor lunch and return to Imlil for your ride back to Marrakech. Approximate walking time: 4 hours. Your trip finishes with a drop-off at your Marrakesh hotel or agreed central location at around 6pm.
