4-Day Desert Tour From Marrakesh

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – TIZI NTICHKA PASS – OUARZAZATE – DADES GORGES

7 am. Departure from Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the Tizi n’Tichka pass which is home to many berber villages. We will be stopping on the way to take pictures and to enjoy the fresh air. You will get to choose where to stop for lunch from a variety of choices before reaching Ouarzazate.

12.30 pm. Arrival to our first destination: Ouarzazate, which in berber means “no noise”. The city is perfect to relax one’s senses of the stress and business of the city. Also known as the Hollywood of Africa, Ouarzazate houses two big cinema studios where you can walk through the decors built for some of your favorite movies such as “Gladiator”, “Jewel of the Nile”, “Sahara”, “The Mummy”.

After lunch. Departure to the Dades Gorges passing by the Rose Valley in Kalaat M’gouna and the still-standing 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul.

Overnight stay will be spent at a hotel in the Dades Gorges. Dinner and breakfast are included.

DAY 2: DADES GORGES – MERZOUGA DESERT

8 am. After breakfast, we will leave towards Tinghir to the next step of our authentic trip to the desert and make a first stop at the fascinating Todgha Gorges, known for its 300 meter high red cliffs, its panoramic views on the old mud built berber villages overlooking the valley and the traditional craft of berber carpets at local women coops.

Lunch. We will get to stop for lunch on the road, the driver will be happy to assist you to choose a good restaurant on the way.

Continuing our trip, we will pass by and make stops in Erfoud and Rissani where you can discover the art of fossils.

4.30 pm. Arrival to the hotel in Merzouga. After drinking your mint tea and relaxing from the journey, we will take a camel ride into the desert while watching the sunset. Overnight at the camp under a starry sky. Dinner and breakfast are included.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – AIT BENHADDOU

After a night spent between the dunes, it is customary to wake up very early to watch the sunrise from up the highest sand dune in Merzouga, which is said to be one of the best in the world. Right after that, we will take our camel caravan again and head back to the hotel for a shower and breakfast.

Arrival to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Many movies have been shot on the site starting from Sodom and Gomorah (1963) to Son of God (2014).

A stop can be made in Ouarzazate if you wish in order to visit the cinema studios.

Overnight at the Kasbah. Dinner and breakfast are included.

DAY 4: AIT BENHADDOU – MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we will head back to Marrakech via Telouat arriving to the Tizi n’Tichka pass while making stops on the way for pictures and lunch.

4-5pm. Arrival to Marrakech and end of the tour.
