The highlight of this day trip from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains was the section where we met our hiking guide, Hassan. When I travel, I want to learn about the culture and the people, not just eat good food and see the “sights”. At the end of a very long hike up to see a waterfall, and a good tagine lunch at a guesthouse, Hassan invited us to have tea at his own home, a real honor for us all. He told us about the way of life in his village, their struggles, and their sense of community. He made tea for us. On the way up to the waterfall, he was busy running back to give us old people a hand over the rocks and slippery sections, encouraging us all the time. He showed genuine concern for us all, even as he told us the history of this part of Morocco.. I would highly suggest you book the tour - ask for Hassan!

I highly recommend both a trip to the Altlas Mountains and going through this tour operator! We were picked-up in the morning near our Riad, a despite booking the trip the night before - the logistics went smoothly. The trip began with a 20min drive and a short stop to ride camels. Nothing super special but still fun. We then made another stop at an argan oil cooperative which was nice and more affordable than other similar cooperatives I've visited. As we approached the Mountains, we made multiple stops for photos and saw a beautiful old Berber-Jewish village in the hillside. The driver was kind, pointed out different sites to us, and stopped to show us different views. After about 2hrs of driving, we arrived in Imlil where we met our guide for the rest of the day, Omar. Omar took us on a 1.5hr-2hr hike through multiple Berber villages and a waterfall. The hike itself should be accessible to most people unless you have any specific health conditions or walking constraints. With the exception of two 15min periods where the hike was steeper, most of the walk was relatively flat. Additionally, Omar kept a good pace, with plenty of quick breaks, frequent check-ins on how we were doing, and a quick stop for tea. Omar was also very friendly and provided good company to the small group. Throughout the hike we saw beautiful mountain passes and villages ticked in between valleys - it was great! The hike ends with a late afternoon lunch at a Berber guest house. The food was quite good and the lunch restful. Overall, a great day trip for anyone looking to escape the chaotic Marrakech medina!

We had a really great time on this tour even though it was a really long hike! My sister and five year old ended up taking a mule but had a great time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He served us tea in his home where we met his lovely wife. Lunch was amazing at a local restaurant. I would highly recommend.

This was such an awesome tour. Mohammed was our driver and Omar our guide. Pickup was punctual, Omar explained the plans for the day. Our first stop was an oil village where they make Moroccan oil. They showed us how they use the buts to produce this amazing oil. Then we went to our next stop and started our hike to the waterfall. It was a pretty steep climb and takes about 2 hours in total for the full hike, so was very happy I opted for the mule ride instead. Then after the waterfall we had an amazing lunch consisting of Moroccan bread, a delicious tomato based appetizer, chicken tagine, and fruit for desert. Finally, Omar took us to his house and served Moroccan mint tea and a delicious chocolate cake.

This excursion is a MUST if you want to experience the true Morocco of the Atlas Mountains and the lives and culture of the indigenous Berbers who live there. Our guide Issmail was amazing! Not only was he incredibly considerate and conscious of our differing needs but incredibly knowledgeable too. Everyone throughout the valleys we travelled knew him and showed our party nothing but kindness and hospitality. The food was absolutely delicious too. We couldn't recommend this trip more...well worth every penny. if you re considering going on this excursion, and we recommend you do,make sure Issmail is your guide and Tichka your driver...they made our day very special and memorable. Thankyou Guys!

My friends and I had a lovely time experiencing and learning more about the Berber community in the Atlas Mountains. Although we were a bit confused about the trip details because our driver himself was not fluent in English, he was still incredibly friendly and helpful to us. Our Berber tour guide was phenomenal. We really enjoyed him telling us more about how the Berber community functions up in the Atlas Mountains, and the views that he took us to were absolutely astonishing. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience!

Our guide, Abdul was brilliant. The visit to the local souk was amazing - quite different to the town souks. We loved the walk in the mountains and visiting Abdul's family home was a real treat. The lunch was also delicious and when I told them I was vegetarian they made me extra food specially. An amazing day with a fantastic guide.

We had an interesting day that gave us a picture of the countryside and the nature outside Marrakech. Lahcen Amzil was also a safe driver on the winding road. We can fully recommend this trip.

Really fun and full day. I called the day before because I didn't get a call. They confirmed the trip and the driver, Mustafa (spelling?) was there 10 minutes early! He was great. The drivers and locals were very upset that 2 girls were killed in their area and posted aniti-terrorism posters, held a major (peaceful) anti-terrorism speaking engagement with a vigil for the girls. Needless to say, I felt safe there. The hike is approx 3.5 miles (according to my GPS) at a slow pace. There was no crazy elevation (it's the valley region, so it's gentle hills or flat). Donkey rides were available for those who didn't want to hike. But, people who rode donkeys commented that they were sore from that. you stop at the argan oil co-op before the hike and get a little food there. Then after the hike, you stop to split a tagine (it's big). the food was great and the sun was out on the rooftop terrace. After, there is a 15-20 minutes camel ride. The area is right off the road, and the ride is okay but not terribly scenic. If you're booking the trip only for the camel ride, you'll probably be disappointed. But, if you want to try it out for a bit, I think it's fine. I got back to the drop off location around 5:00/5:30 PM. Overall, a great trip and I did not feel unsafe. Enjoy!

We really enjoyed this tour. From the camel ride to the hike through the mountains and lunch at a Berber home. Having a great guide makes all the difference - our guide was Said. He was very friendly and explained everything very well. He also made sure we felt comfortable and were having a good time. We highly recommend this tour with Said.

We had a great trip to the Atlas mountains. We were picked up at a square near our riad and taken first to ride the camels, wgwhi was quite short a ride but very pleasant. The next stop was at an argan oil place, which felt quite touristy, but the tea and snacks were nice. After about an hour's drive, we arrived in the village where we set off on a hike. First to a waterfall, then through a village and finally descended back to the valley. The hike was pretty easy even though we ascended to alnalm 2km. Wear good shoes! The lunch was served at a pleasant riad with gorgeous views. Overall, the trip was a success: the driver and the guide were very nice, the views were amazing, and there were nice shopping opportunities in the villages, but no pressure to buy anything. I would totally recommend this trip to anyone looking to get out of Marrakesh on a day trip!
