La Palmeraie or Lalla Takerkoust Lake Horse Riding Tour from Marrakech Including Lunch

Following a morning pickup at your hotel or riad in Marrakech, meet your guide and travel out into the countryside by air-conditioned minivan to begin your horse riding tour. With ancient olive groves, lush palm plantations and traditional Berber villages to discover, rural Morocco is not to be missed and horseback is an adventurous way to explore the rugged terrain in style.

Meet your horse at the stables then spend a little time getting acquainted. During your short initiation session, learn the commands used to control your horse in comfort and safety, then head off along the tracks with your guide. For your full-day tour, you can choose to visit La Palmeraie, and area of palm groves just outside Marrakech, or Lalla Takerkoust Lake, high in the Atlas Mountains.

In the palm groves, travel on horseback past tall palms and desert flora and fauna flourishing in the seemingly dry ground, and admire ancient rock formations in the riverbeds and valleys. Enjoy a refreshing tea break with the locals in one of the Berber villages along the way and learn about life in rural Morocco.

Alternatively, choose to visit Lalla Takerkoust Lake and head on horseback with your guide into the foothills of the Atlas mountain range. Pass traditional Berber villages where shepherds herd their flocks, and admire beautiful views over Lalla Takerkoust Lake from the saddle as the mighty peaks of the High Atlas loom large on the horizon.

During your 4-hour horseback tour, take a break for lunch in a local restaurant and sample some of the seasonal specialities for which Morocco is famous. After lunch, relax in the shade and enjoy a break from the heat or cool off with a refreshing swim in a nearby pool.

When it’s time to head back to Marrakech, hop back into your vehicle for the return journey to your hotel or riad, where your tour concludes.
