OVERVIEW:
The day trip to the Ourika Valley is the closest day trip destination from Marrakech, due to its numerous waterfalls and wonderful nature, it is a very popular attraction, the Ourika Valley stretches between the first foothills of the mountains of the Atlas. Despite being so close to Marrakech, this beautiful and lush green valley is definitely one of the best preserved valleys in Morocco. About 64 km from Marrakech, the town is at the end of the road, but an offroad (to Timichi) and then a mule track continues through the valley to pass to Tacheddirt and Oukaimeden, which has the best ski resort in Morocco and Interesting prehistory Rock carvings The road also continues through the mountain to Imlil and Toubkal, which makes it a useful starting / arrival point for hikers. Therefore, this day trip to the picturesque village of Ourika will allow you to experience some of the beauty of the North African countryside without sacrificing the comforts of your hotel or riad. Touring the valley requires a little effort and good shoes and comfortable clothes, there are some rocks to climb here and there to reach the seven waterfalls of Setti Fatma. All walks are directed and supervised by qualified and experienced guides and mule manipulators, from the local population. You will also cross many Berber bridges to get from one side of the valley to the other, a great place to take some wonderful panoramic photos! Despite being close to Marrakech, the Ourika Valley is still inhabited by Berber villagers who live in a traditional lifestyle that can be considered “virgin.”
OURIKA VALLEY DAY DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIP:
Your day trip to the Ourika Valley starts at 09:00 from your accommodation in Marrakech. After a short trip from Marrakech to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. We will take the road along the Ourika Valley, then enter through a succession of clinging mountain villages. stop to see wonderful landscapes full of vibrant colors as we move along the slopes. Our first stop will be in a traditional house of a Berber family living in the valley. The family often opens their home to visitors who wish to enjoy their surroundings, the family will offer us tea and serve us their local breakfast consisting of bread, honey, butter and olive oil. Ourika’s day trip from Marrakech will give you the opportunity to ride camels for half an hour more in the valley. Later we will continue our journey to reach Setti Fatma, a favorite weekend destination for many Moroccans. Very appreciated for its beautiful streams and 7 waterfalls, beautiful cliffs, green valleys. You will explore a region that still practices a medieval agricultural tradition. Walk through the valley to take pictures of the views of the green terraces that surround the Atlas Mountains, walk with a local guide to the first waterfall. After the walk, we will return to lunch in a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view over the mountains, lunch will consist of a variety of Moroccan dishes (vegetarians are welcome). Then we return to Marrakech around 05pm.
