- Who are the seven saints of Regraga?
- These seven men were Christians who, during a trip to Mecca, met the Prophet Muhammad (saws), who taught them Islam. Converted to this new religion, they returned to the Maghreb to spread his message. They settled then in the area of Essaouira, where they began their mission. These seven saints are: Sidi Ouasmine, Sidi Said Essabek, Sidi Aissa Boukhabiya, Sidi Yaala, Sidi Saleh, Sidi Boubker Achemasse and Sidi Aissa Mouloutad. The pilgrimage of the Regraga perpetuates the daour, the visit of the tombs of these seven founding saints of the brotherhood of Chiadma, located in the hinterland of Essaouira.

- HISTORY & MONUMENTS About 300 years ago, the Sultan Moulay Ismaïl of Marrakech, found an idea to face the growing influence of the seven saints Regraga around Essaouira. Seven saints were chosen, having for one thing in common all of them buried in the ocher city. In 2005, Bab Doukkala, seven towers were built in honor of these seven men, who represent both the history and culture of the city of Marrakech. Zoom on this tradition and its cultural practices.
- Who are the seven saints of Regraga?
- These seven men were Christians who, during a trip to Mecca, met the Prophet Muhammad (saws), who taught them Islam. Converted to this new religion, they returned to the Maghreb to spread his message. They settled then in the area of Essaouira, where they began their mission. - All these saints were great scholars in Islamic theology or great Sufi mystics. One of them, however, stands out in the imagination of people: Sidi Bel Abbes Sebti, considered the true patron saint of the city. This man is the most invoked and venerated (the donut traders dedicate him the first fruit of their work and the peasants, their first sheaf of wheat). Here is a brief presentation of each of the walis of the city:

- Origin: Yemeni, from Marrakech.

- Cadi Ayyad Ben Moussad

- Education: After continuing his studies in Fez then in Granada, he moved to Marrakech to complete his training with Sidi Abdelaziz Tabaa.
- Particular Signs: The Sultan Sidi Mohamed Cheikh imprisoned him in Marrakech, jealous of his good reputation among the people. He will be released a few years later.
- Died in: 1528 (934 AH)
- Buried: not far from the Mouassine Mosque.
- Imam Souheili
- Also known as: Abu el Kassim, Abu Zaid Abderrahmane ibn al Khatib Abu
- Amer ben Abi al Hassan Asbagh ben Houssine Ben Saadoun ben Redouane ben Fattouh Souhaili.
- Origin: Originally from Souhail, near Malaga.
- Education: Was brought back from Spain by Yacoub El Mansour.
- Particular Signs: He is known for his Sufi poetry and open-mindedness at a time of strong religious censorship. The Students with no memory often recollect their grave. He wrote two masterpieces: one on the proper names of the prophets quoted in the Koran, the other on the biography of Sidna Mohammed.Mort in: 1186 (582 AH) Buried: near Bab Robb.How does the pilgrimage take place? The pilgrimage follows a circular path that refers to the convolution around the Kaaba during the pilgrimage to Mecca. The devotional circuit takes an unchanging route through the medina, from south-east to south-west, passing through the north. It begins on Tuesday and ends on the following Monday, each day being reserved for a wali (or saint). The "ziara" is done in the following order: Sidi Youssef Ben Ali -> MardiCadi Ayyad -> WednesdaySidi Bel Abbes -> ThursdaySidi Ben Slimane -> FridaySidi Abdelaziz Tebbaâ -> SaturdaySidi Abdellah El Ghazouani -> Sunday
