Telouet and Ait Ben Haddou Private Guided Day Tour from Marrakech

Enjoy a private full-day guided excursion by 4x4 deep into the High Atlas Mountains. Your guide for the day will meet you at your Marrakech property, recommended around 7:30am. Heading out of the busy city of Marrakech you cross the Tizi 'Tichka (2260m) and descend to Telouet. Here you'll discover the ancient kasbah that was once the main residence and stronghold of the Glaoui brothers, and from where they ruled the south of Morocco. This vast complex of crumbling buildings was finally abandoned in 1956, but you can still see the remnants of a once glorious age, particularly in the remains of the great Pasha's suites.

After a visit of the kasbah you continue through the mountains to reach the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou the UNESCO world heritage site. A fortified village of kasbahs rising up out of the nearby riverbed. Lunch will be in a local restaurant (soft drinks and alcoholic drinks not included) before having time to explore the village with its narrow passages. There are still some families living in the old houses. Ait Ben Haddou has also become popular as a set for many films made in the region, including 'Gladiator'. Return to Marrakech in the early evening.
