Classic Safari Itinerary

16 days
About this activity
This wonderful itinerary follows our ‘classic’ itinerary but with a greater amount of time spent in Botswana’s ‘jewel’ the Okavango Delta. We have a full 6 nights in the Moremi Game Reserve to explore the wonders of this wetland wilderness- and at the best time of year for game viewing. The trip includes two fantastic boat cruises- allowing you to see the magical inner delta- only accessible by boat and to watch big game whilst cruising along the majestic Chobe River.

Fly into Maun on the 30’th June and we meet you at your lodge the next day at mid morning, and drive to the beautiful Moremi Game Reserve. We stay for 3 nights at the beautiful Xini Lagoon. We will explore this and the adjacent Black Pools area’s extensively whilst here.
4’th July we drive North then West to Xakanaxa, also in Moremi for 3 nights in an exclusive operators site. On the 5’th of July we will have a 3 hour boat cruise into the inner delta from Xakanaxa, a great chance to explore the lagoons in this area and see many water birds.
7’th July We will have an early morning game drive before breakfast and drive to Khwai across the river from Moremi. This is on the edge of the Delta and a chance to see another side of the Okavango- the small waterway is host to a plethora of game species.
10’th July we head north into Chobe National Park and to Savuti, having lunch along the way.The drive normally takes about 6 hrs, a lot of it through good game country. Savuti is a very special part of Chobe National Park. The Savute channel and Marsh have excellent predator sightings and we have the very special chance to see Ancient Rock Art and take a special trip to a little known island of baobab trees.
On the 13th July 2015 we again move North to the Chobe River, after an early morning game drive and breakfast, having lunch along the way. The Chobe River is a major watering spot for large herds of elephants, giraffe, sable and cape buffalo. The flood plains are the only place in Botswana where the puku antelope can be seen. Birding is also excellent here. We spend our final 3 nights on safari in a lovely site close to the river here. 14’th July we will have a 3 hour boat cruise providing exciting photographic opportunities and game viewing.
On the 16’th July 2015 the safari finishes in Kasane. We can arrange to transfer you from Kasane to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to extend your trip with one of the world’s natural wonders.
