About this activity
Join this off the beaten track small group tour that gives you a stunning feel of colonial villages Malpica, Concordia, and Copala, situated at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. All the villages offer something different and give you an experience you will take home and treasure.

The village of Malpica demonstrates the making of colorful floor tiles by hand, and you'll get to see bread being made in a rustic kiln. Concordia offers a great opportunity to see how local artisans hand-craft beautiful furniture, pottery, and roof tiles. Concordia is home to the French-style City hall and the San Sebastian temple, built in 1608 with beautiful arches.

We feel the real highlight of the Colonial Tour is Copala, history here started from 1565 as an old mining town. Copala is a colorful town filled with bougainvillea, and roofs with traditional red tiles. We will take you down the cobblestone streets and introduce to some of Copala's 600 unique locals. We will treat you to a real local true Mexican lunch, here you can choose from chicken or beef fajitas or Asado a la Plaza, which is a traditional dish, and consists of pre-cooked beef and potatoes cooked over oil, topped with shredded lettuce, carrot, and bathed in a warm tomato sauce. Once your taste buds have been indulged we head to the famous San Jose church. The original San Jose church dates back to the 1700s and is Set high on a hill at the center of town facing the central plaza, it is a great example of an early colonial Mexican Catholic church, and reflects the wealth of mid-1700s Copala.

This is a great tour to book if you want to stay away from the city and make the most of the true Mexico.
