Coffee Region 3-Day trip from Medellín

Itinerary

Day 1: Medellín - Manizales

Stop At: Carrera 21 #31-14, Centro, Manizales, Caldas, Colombia
Your day will start early when our driver picks you up at your hotel in Medellín to take you to the bus terminal to begin your adventure on a 4-hour bus road trip to Manizales. Waiting for you at Manizales bus station, our knowledgeable guide will show you this marvelous city. Since the city is right in the middle of the central mountain range, it has an uneven topography, which gives plenty amazing lookouts and viewpoints to enjoy.

First, you will go to the Plaza de Bolivar, the main square of the city, where you will see the government palace and the main Cathedral. Your guide will take you to a special place where you will be able to appreciate an amazing view of the Bolívar Condor, which is a statue of a half Simón Bolivar and half Condor located right in the center of the square, it is locally known as El Libertador. Then, you’ll walk down Carrera 23, the main street, to take a cable car over the city and the gorgeous Quebrada Olivares. Once you finish, there will be a car waiting to take you to Chipre, a neighborhood where you'll see the striking Monumento a Los Colonizadores, and have the chance to admire the beautiful coffee landscape. Next, you'll go to a trendy zone in Manizales which has a great variety of restaurants and bars, and some spare time for lunch (at your own expense), we suggest that you try a typical dish of the region.

Stop At: Coffee Tour Hacienda Venecia, Vereda El Rosario, Manizales 057 Colombia
After your lunch, you will be taken to Hacienda Venecia, a beautiful coffee farm just outside of Manizales which has conserved its early 20th-century architecture, and where you will stay for the next 2 nights. After checking in, you may dive in the pool, enjoy a breathtaking walk through the coffee plantations or simply relax in a hammock.

Day 2: Salento

Stop At: a 2-91, Cra. 6 #2-1, Salento, Quindío, Colombia
Start your day off right, with a delicious Colombian breakfast. After, you will be taken to Salento, a small enchanting village 2 hours away from Manizales, in the department of Quindío. Here you will have the opportunity to get to know the village on your own and at your own pace. You will have three hours to walk through the lively and colorful streets filled with colonial houses, handicrafts, antique shops, and restaurants. You can also go up to Alto de la Cruz and be astounded by the dazzling green valleys and spectacular coffee country landscape. When you come down, take your time to have lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense).

Stop At: Valle del Cocora, Salento Colombia
Afterward, you will be taken to the amazing Cocora Valley at Parque Nacional de Los Nevados. You will be there for a couple of hours and choose how to spend your time. The first option is staying in the car and letting your driver take you through the valley to appreciate the grasslands, wax palms, the creeks and of course the cloud forest. Another option is hiring a professional guide (at your own expense), to go on a hike and learn about the local flora and fauna. Lastly, you may also rent a horse (at your own expense)to ride throughout the marvelous valley. As soon as these two hours pass, you will be driven back to Hacienda Venecia where a delicious dinner will be served before going to bed.

Day 3: Manizales - Medellín

Stop At: Coffee Tour Hacienda Venecia, Vereda El Rosario, Manizales 057 Colombia
After a delightful breakfast, you will have a personalized tour of the coffee plantations at Hacienda Venecia. You will be walking through the luscious coffee plantations, learning about the coffee process, from seed to the cup, and understanding why it became such an important part of Colombian culture. You will then head back to the main house to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. After this sensational tour, you may have lunch at the Hacienda (at your own expense) and after, you will be taken to the bus terminal to get your bus back to Medellín. Finally, waiting for you in Medellín's bus terminal, a driver will take you to your hotel.
