About this activity
Melbourne City Sightseeing Tour (3 hours):Start your tour with a pickup by air-conditioned coach from your central Melbourne hotel, or alternatively, meet your guide in Federation Square. Hear about Melbourne's famous world-class sporting events like the Australian Open Tennis Championships and the Melbourne Cup horse race, and the city’s vibrant markets, cafes and galleries.

As you drive through the downtown streets, watch out for top Melbourne attractions like St Patrick’s Cathedral and Melbourne Cricket Ground. Pass the hustle and bustle of Queen Victoria Market and visit the iconic Fitzroy Gardens (own expense) – home to Captain Cook’s Cottage.

Take in the Docklands – Australia’s premium waterfront development – and enjoy the drive over Bolte Bridge for spectacular city views. Your tour also takes you on a stroll in Chinatown and includes a guided walk through some of Melbourne's best arcades and laneways.

Your morning tour ends at Federation Square or your hotel, and if you choose to do both tours on the same day, then you’ll have a 2-hour break before your next tour starts in the early afternoon.

Phillip Island Trip Including Penguin Parade (10 hours):Leave your Melbourne hotel by air-conditioned coach with free WiFi on-board, and head southeast to Western Port – the gateway to Phillip Island. After passing through the maritime fishing village of San Remo, cross the bridge and begin your visit of this enchanting little island.

Phillip Island Nature Park is one of southern Australia’s highlights. Visit Warrook Homestead where you can get up close to kangaroos and enjoy afternoon tea (own expense) ; the Koala Conservation Centre; and the wetlands for a spot of bird watching (April to October only). Your tour will stop for dinner (own expense) either before or after the tour’s highlight – the Penguin Parade!

Stand on floodlit Summerland Beach in the general viewing zone – right next to the main path of penguins. This area is limited to 190 people, ensuring the best views of the little penguins coming in from the waves and waddling towards their burrows. Relax with a drink as you watch them hopping along the sand, and learn about their life on the island from the informative displays on-site.

After their nightly ritual has taken place, enjoy some time at leisure here. Perhaps wander over to see the penguin rookeries from an elevated boardwalk or check out the Visitor’s Centre.

Meet your guide back on the coach at the pre-arranged time, and then head back to your Melbourne hotel where your tour ends.

Excellent tours. City tour puts everything in context and shows you some of the major sights you can see on your own later. Tour guides were great, and we would have missed the covered walkways and arcades without them showing us. The Penguins are just brilliant. Adorable, funny and spectacular. James (the guide) was excellent. His detour to the hilltop from where we could see all the Penguin viewing areas is excellent. It shows everything from an aerial view and is well worth shaving time on other visits. Both tours well recommended - and the busses have good leg-room for +6ft tall people!

The city tour was very interesting and informative. The Phillip Island tour unfortunately had a glitch as the bus broke down and wouldn't start at our first stop of the tour which caused some anxiety amongst a few passengers who were afraid they'd miss the penguin parade and wouldn't be able to reschedule because they were leaving the next day. Fortunately, after an hour delay they were able to resolve the problem but we missed the next stop on the tour. The bus driver was very apologetic but it certainly wasn't his fault for the mechanical problem. The rest of the trip went smoothly and we were able to enjoy the rest of the day. Even with the incident I would still highly recommend the tour.

City Tour: This is a combination of drive around and walking. It gives a quick snapshot of the city and as such, I would definitely recommend this to someone who doesn't have the time to explore the city on their own. We had Ian as the drive-around guide and he was very knowledgeable and funny. The walking part through the shopping arcades wasn't great, though - could've been better executed. The Philip island tour is phenomenal and the little penguins walking by are just the sweetest things ever. The tour takes you to Churchill island and the Philip Island in the evening and the entire drive plus the island stops are very scenic and afford excellent photo ops. Our tour guide was Deb and she is just the most fantastic tour guide I've had till date. Very knowledgeable, very involved and very forthcoming. Her narration through the evening was an absolute pleasure! Special Tip: 1. The tour ends late at night - Back to city by 11 pm 2. Photography is not allowed at the penguin parade

Melbourne tour was thorough and covered many places in the time. Lovely tour guides, especially taking us to some main arcades with great historical information. The penguin tour was wonderful experience, but made for a very long day, as back at my hotel near midnight.

Wonderful tour! The Penguins were so cute and adorable. Our guides for both tours were informative and friendly. They made all the instructions and infiamruin very clear, and they were both helpful to make sure we got the most of the tour. Enjoyable and worth every penny!
