About this activity
After departing Federation Square in Melbourne, travel out of the city through the South-Eastern suburbs to the beautiful Sherbrooke Forest, right in the heart of The Dandenongs for a refreshing stop of Aussie style morning tea. Your Aussie style morning tea consists of Bush Billy Tea, lamingtons and Vegemite to try with crackers. There is time also to buy some bird seed to hand feed the colorful and peckish crimson rosellas and king parrots!

After this delightful treat, hop on board the Puffing Billy steam train at Belgrave to Menzies Creek. The half hour journey through the forest is the most scenic and our driver will meet you at Menzies Creek for the remainder of the tour.

To cap off this fun morning tour in the Blue Dandenongs, stop in the village of Sassafras. This lovely village is well known among Melbournians for it's good quality antiques and crafts, as well as it's tea shop. The tour will conclude at Federation Square.

If you have chosen the optional upgrade for the Penguin Parade and the Melbourne City Tour, you will start the second half of your tour here.

We were disappointed that our train trip was cancelled. The bus ride to Phillips Island was great and the penguin experience was super. My friend cannot walk that far and there was a cart to take her to the main building and then another cart that took us to the boardwalk to see the penguins. What an experience.

Went on this trip many years ago and decided to go again when in Australia in May. Very enjoyable trip worth a visit if you like the old steam trains

Puffing billy was cool and worth the trip. The bird feeding part should not be your main concern for this trip as the bird feeding is not so large. Our guide and bus driver Dan was friendly and helpful. The tour ends at 1pm so you will have plenty time to spend for the rest of the sunshine in the afternoon. Good arranagment overall.

We loved our trip out of the city! The driver was great, he gave us so much interesting information that otherwise we would have not been able to get. The trip with the train was fun and we got to see some beautiful nature. We had few stops: at the first one the driver made us some really good tea and gave us some local treats:- at the second one, we got to visit few different shops and coffee shops. Great value!

The trips were both excellent, and the drivers friendly and informative. Just felt that we were a bit rushed in places.

Grayline trip was fun and driver, Russell, very helpful. Be wary of cockatoos at feed point in the forest. Hubby had his arms shredded by them. Puffing Billy was great. Best to sit on platform side of train towards the back to get good view of front of train as it goes round the bends. A good trip.

Great morning tour. We didn't do the extra Penguin and Melb cit tour. The Puffing Billy was a trip down memory lane. Our tour guide James did a good job on commentary and making a lovely cup of tea along the way served with lamingtons. Some free time along the way to enjoy a cafe lunch at Sassafrass and wonderful little heritage town and Feeding the cockatoos was an experience at our morning tea location. I was lucky enough to also spot and witness a Lyrebird singing his various songs and Imitations. I would recommend his tour for a great morning out and returning to Federation Square Round 1pm..
