Wineries in Valle de Uco
Uco Valley
This area covers the highest vineyards of the province: up to 1,700 meters above sea level. Tupungato, Tunuyán and San Carlos are located in this area. Characterized by a top quality red and white wine production, wines grown in this region are suitable for prolonged ageing. The typical wine varieties of this area are Semillon and Malbec, but Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, and Syrah have been recently implanted, with excellent results.
In the morning we visit Corazon del sol crafts captivating Malbec and Grenache-based wines that capture the best of Argentina’s unique, high altitude terroir. In 2008, Dr. Madaiah Revana went to Argentina seeking to add to his family of estate wineries which includes Revana Family Vineyard in Napa Valley and Alexana Winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The 17 acres of estate vineyard are planted at the base of the Andes at an elevation of 3,000 feet. Famed winemaker Santiago Achaval crafts our vineyard-driven wines from our estate plantings of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.
Then we visit and lunch at Clos de los 7. Clos de los Siete is a French viticulturists’ project located at the foothills of the Andes Range, in the heart of Uco Valley, one of the main wine industry areas in the Province of Mendoza. The field has 850 ha located between 1000 and 1200 m.a.s.l. in Vista Flores, Tunuyán at 120 km to the south of the city of Mendoza. The soils have an inclination towards a north-east orientation having the best exposition to the sunlight in the southern hemisphere.
Clos de los Siete’s history comes to life in 1998. It is bound to the winemaker Michel Rolland, wine advisor and consultant in several prestigious wineries all around the world. Michel Rolland encouraged a group of French partners to be united, families already related to wine, whose names are inseparable from the most famous Grand Crus in the world. Tasting in 2 wineries and 5 steps lunch.
