Pass By: Zona Arqueologica Uxmal, Carretera Federal No. 261, Uxmal 97899 Mexico

Your first stop will be Uxmal, known to many by way of legend, myth or anecdote. It is situated within a series of hills known as the Puuc or "mountainous area" in Maya. The name was later given to describe the architectural style of the region, such as the colossal Magicians Pyramid, impressive Governor´s Palace, intricate Dove´s Temple and Grand Nuns Quadrangle.

The archaeological structures and buildings located throughout Uxmal are ornamented with geometrical figures and masks of the rain god, Chaac. The rain god was considered by the Maya people as one of the most important of their deities.

Have lunch at either the beautiful Hacienda Uxmal or in the gardens of the Lodge of Uxmal surrounded by unique Maya Palapas.

Pass By: Kabah, Carretera Federal 261 Mexico

Next, visit Kabah, a Puuc-style city that flourished around the year 800 AD. Kabah is known as the second largest religious center in the Puuc-style. (Puuc is the Mayan name given to a series of low-lying hills with a unique culture and style.)

After sightseeing, enjoy the beautiful pool and gardens of the Hacienda Uxmal Hotel.

We will depart at 4:00 pm from Uxmal in order to be in Merida around 5:00 pm.

We had a great tour with ROSENDO! He was knowledgeable and friendly. Our tour only had one other person on it (three total), so it was really like a private tour. Rosendo was ready and willing to walk to the furthest reaches of the zones and climb all the ruins we wanted (when permitted by INAH). We can't say enough good things about Rosendo. Customer service was helpful and responsive when we wanted to confirm our pickup spot by email. Lunch was from a limited menu that could accommodate a vegetarian and a gluten allergy. We did not go to the Planetarium, choosing instead to sit by the pool at the hotel Viator has a partnership with which was the perfect end to a long, hot day.

We enjoyed this trip a lot because it was a very small group and so we got personalized attention. There were some hiccups about the pick-up time but it got sorted out. Our tour guide, Jorge, for the Kabah and Uxmal sites was outstanding. Apart from his excellent knowledge, he has a unique sense of humor and kept us in splits with his comments. The chocolate museum visit was interesting and lunch at the hacienda Uxmal was also excellent. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable experience

This was a great tour! There was much smaller crowds at these sites and no market vendors making constant animal noises like you get at Chichen Itza. The pace is reasonable for the amount to see, and our guide Jorge was incredibly knowledgeable with 50 years experience. Uxmal is highly impressive and worth seeing.

Fantastic ruins! Not crowded and with peaceful feeling! Our guide was Mayan and had been doing this tour for 50 years, but he was anything but rote and boring. The driver was vary kind and spoke very good English, as did the guide. Both accommodated Ur timing and desire to look longer at any given site. Lunch was good, although my sister had the fish and it was excellent. Defenitetly worht it!

Uxmal and Kabah are both extraordinary examples of the Maya civilization, truly breathtaking. Our guide was very friendly and his commentary/expertise were good, but not outstanding. They did not put together a tour group that worked very well, unfortunately. It included a very elderly couple who really should not have been on this trip because of physical problems - as much as I admired their pluck they should have been strongly discouraged - and a gentleman who was very unhappy because he was counting on the tour ending at the time he had been told rather than 1/1/2 hours later, causing difficulty with a connection. So, while the sites we visited are quite spectacular and merit 5 stars, the tour organization was somewhat lacking.

This was a great experience. The ruins were very beautiful, and what surprised me most was how friendly the other tourists in the group were. I had a wonderful time and would recommend the trip to anyone.
