About this activity
You will meet your guide at a central location in Mexico City and board an air-conditioned van leaving at 9am from the city. Admire the natural region as you drive with its trees and mountains. You will stop at 10:45am to visit the Purisima Concepcion Church. This is a historic monument dating back to the year 1529, two centuries older than Santa Prisca Church in Taxco.
The next stop is the viewpoint of the Barrancas, where you will see the most wonderful view of La Sierra Madre del Sur. After that, you'll arrive to the hanging bridge called La Hamaca. This bridge is 110 meters long, and under it passes a beautiful river.
The next and most important stop is the mezcal factory, where you will learn all about the production process of this old drink. You will see how an agave plant becomes a tasty drink. Also, you will learn the distillation and fermentation process. Between beautiful views you will taste three kinds of mezcal, and nine flavors of mezcal cream.
In the store you can buy a bottle of mezcal, or any product that you may like. You will then head to get lunch with a menu including a delicious pozole (Authentic Mexican soup), accompanied by garrisons, quesadillas and fried tacos. You will also taste the most famous cocktail of the region, called Coyote. People say that if you drink a lot Coyote, you will howl like the coyote does it at night.
You will take the road again to head back to the city at 5:30pm. You will arrive to Mexico City at 7:30pm.
