About this activity
You will be picked up at either your hotel or the port with convenient transfer service. Meet your local English-speaking guide at the Archaeological Museum near the entrance of Mykonos's old town in the morning or afternoon, per your preference (museum tickets not included). Walk towards Manto Square to see the monument to Manto Mavrogenous, a heroine of the Greek War of Independence. Wander past whitewashed buildings to the flower-draped Matogianni area, where fashion stores and boutiques line the streets. You'll also see three identical 18th-century wells, historical homes, and the Maritime Museum.

Stop at the Gioras Bakery to taste a freshly made treat from their warm wooden stove. Head to the iconic Mykonos windmills before continuing down winding narrow paths to the castle of Chora. Explore the Scarpa area, also known as Little Venice, with its picturesque medieval houses and the bright white Church of Panagia Paraportiani. Visit the Mykonos Folklore Museum (entrance fee not included), and gaze at the blue-domed Agios Nikolaos Church at the old port on your way back to the walk’s starting point. At the conclusion of your tour, a vehicle will return you to your hotel or port.

It turned out to be a private tour as my wife and I were the only ones on this tour. Our guide, Gibson, a native Nigerian was fluent in English and Greek.

We really enjoyed our walking tour with Gibson. He was informative and very patient when we wanted to stop and take pics. The company came to pick us up at our hotel and would have taken us back, but we opted to stay and shop and find our own way home. We were able to get into one of the churches and went into a still working Bakehouse from the 15th century. Nice tour not too long.

Our guide Candace was one of the best. She slowly walked the streets and did not turn it into a race or power walking event. She patiently took pictures for everyone and explained the beautiful city and its sights. If you want to see the small streets, this is the tour! One of the best bangs for a buck we have ever had.

The tour guides were very informative. Since the town is small, one could have covered the town on their own. Also, the town was in construction mode for the upcoming tourist season. Therefore, many of the things were closed to experience the true feeling of the town.
