About this activity

Your experience at La Manèga will start in the vineyards, followed by a tour of the wine cellar. Your tasting will give you a complete overview on Franciacorta wine production: you will taste 2 different wines, choosing from Brut, Satèn and Rosè.

Franciacorta Brut

Blend

Chardonnay 80% and Pinot Blanc 20%.

Characteristics

Secondary fermentation in the bottle with at least 18 months of ageing on the lees; processing and maturation continue for at least 25 months after harvest. Bottle pressure between 5 and 6 atmospheres.

Tasting notes

Straw yellow with golden tints, fine and persistent effervescence, characteristic bouquet of fermentation in the bottle, hints of bread crust. Savoury, fresh, fine and harmonious.

Franciacorta Satèn

Blend

Chardonnay 80% Pinot Blanc 20%.

Characteristics

The softness of the taste is the result of a careful selection of the base wines and low bottle pressure of below 5 atmospheres. Produced exclusively as a Brut type.

Tasting notes

Fine and persistent, almost creamy effervescence. Pale yellow colour that can also be deep, with greenish tones. Nuanced fragrance. Its pleasant flavour and freshness harmonise with an innate softness that recalls the delicate sensation of silk.

Franciacorta Rosé

Blend

Pinot Noir 30%, Chardonnay 70%

Characteristics

Characteristics: the Pinot Noir grapes ferment in contact with the skins for long enough to give the wine the desired colouring. It is produced with Pinot Noir base wine, vinified in rosé that can either be pure (100%) or from a blend of Chardonnay and/or Pinot Blanc base wines.

Tasting notes

The presence of Pinot Noir gives this Franciacorta a particular body and vigour, in addition to the typical aromas of the grape.

La Manèga is a family winery founded in 1992 by Rizzini Natale; the vineyards occupy three hectares around the cellar, located on the hills of Gussago in the eastern area of Franciacorta. The vineyard plant is built on terraces well exposed to sun and breeze; the maturation of the grapes is determined from the first days of August, and they are harvested by hand in small cases; the yearly production is about 50 tons per hectare. At the early stage of the business, the grapes were sold to the most reputed wineries of the region. From 2005 it was decided to produce wine themselves moved by the passion for the territory and the Franciacorta method. The increasingly high quality grapes create a fine wine that has enabled "La Manèga" to get the title Franciacorta DOCG. In a few years “La Manèga” has become one of the most welcome wineries of the region in terms of cellar visiting. The range of wines produced by La Manèga includes three types of sparkling Franciacorta DOCG: Brut, Satèn and Rosé, obtained with the method of natural fermentation in bottle.
