About this activity

Meet your private driver at your hotel in Milan and transfer to Langhe countryside (2hr driving), part of UNESCO World Heritage list.

The region offer panoramas of carefully cultivated hillsides, following ancient land divisions punctuated with buildings that lend structure to the visual space: hilltop villages, castles, Romanesque churches, farms, ciabots, cellars and storehouses for cellaring and for the commercial distribution of the wine in the small towns and larger towns on the margins of the vineyards. The serial property is outstanding for its harmony, and the balance between the aesthetic qualities of its landscapes, the architectural and historical diversity of the built elements associated with the wine production activities and an authentic and ancient art of winemaking.

Itineray

11 am: Arrive to Marchesi di Gresy and visit the winery with your private wine guide. After the tour, enjoy a vertical tasting of 4 old vintages of Barbaresco. This is a nifty way of experiencing Barbaresco wines, you will get an indeep knowledge of style of these wines. You will see how unique weather patterns may affect the grapes from one year to the next and how different every vintage can be.

Tenute Cisa Asinari Dei Marchesi di Grésy is the full name of this vaunted family estate that possesses the only monopole cru vineyard in all of Piedmont: the Martinenga Vineyard. This stunning 29.5 acre holding has been known since the Romans, and the southern exposure and blue marl allow for an ideal ripening of the Nebbiolo grape.
Like many Piedmont family-owned wineries, the di Grésy family’s continual presence on land Alberto di Grésy current farms began centuries ago. In 1797, the noble di Grésy family purchased the Martinenga property to add to their holdings atop the area’s highest hill, Monte Aribaldo in nearby Treiso. For nearly two centuries, the di Grésy family
produced and sold their prized grapes in the Alba grape market each autumn. Alberto di Grésy assumed control of the estate in the 1960s. Not surprisingly
given di Grésy’s drive and determination, he grew weary of seeing others reap the rewards of converting the fruits of their labors into wine.

1 pm: Lunch will be at outstanding Michelin starred La Ciau del Tornavento, This restaurant has one of the most evocative views in the Langhe region and a menu featuring imaginative, contemporary-style cuisine, as well as an excellent wine list. It provides a delightful dining experience and is perfect in every way, including the service. Sample dishes could include charcoal grilled Veal filet, sweetbreads and Santena asparagus; Sanato veal breaded in breadsticks,Asiatic salad and hazelnut; roasted beef slices with tuna sauce; plin di Seirass: ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese surrounded by a nest of May hay; warm soup, veal , goat and sheep milk, asparagus tips, quail poched egg and black truffle; puff pastry ,creamy hazelnut, salty peanuts, milk mint ice cream; ‘Gianduia’ tartlet with pipe tobacco ice-cream.

Transfer to Barolo village and 4 pm visit and vertical tasting with 4 old vintages of Barolo at traditional style winery Borgogno, going back to 1982 vintage!

The large Borgogno cellar dominates the center of the village here and serves as a monument to traditional Barolo. Bartolomeo Borgogno founded this estate in 1761, but it is a historic document dated 1848 that attests to its first wine sales to the Royal Army of Racconigi.

After the tour and tasting, free time to visit the quaint hamlet. Located in an ornate hollow of hills covered in vineyards, the simple and cosy village is dominated by the austere image of Faletti castle, dating to the X century and site of the regional wine shop of Barolo.
