Stop At: Villa Reale, Viale Brianza 1, 20900 Monza Italy
Leave Milan in the early afternoon to reach, after a short transfer by minivan the symbol of the magnificence Habsburg Emperors in Italy, the Royal Villa of Monza. Commissioned by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and designed by the great architect Giuseppe Pieramarini, the creator of the La Scala Opera House, the royal palace is a masterpiece of pomp and grandeur in neoclassical style.
Once arrived you start the 1.5 hours visit with a professional guide around the Private questers of the guest at the second floor, the most important part of the so called “nobel floor”. The ample spaces of this floor with the wooded floor, tapestries and ceilings with plaster decorations that once hosted the private rooms of the Prince of Naples, the duchess of Genoa and the German Emperors now welcome temporary exhibitions. Don’t miss the specular staircase of honour that connects the first to the second floor, now brought back to its original glory after a long restauration.
Continue to the top floor of the Villa: the Belvedere. This area, once reserved to the quartiers of the servants, has been restored in 2014 and now hosts a permanent exhibition on design called “the everyday beauty”. From here you can enjoy a great view on the gardens and on the court of honour.
After the visit of the Villa you will have free time to enjoy the park, 24.00 square meters of English gardens with lakes, small bridges, artificial caves and a small temple.
At the end of your visit to the gardens take your minivan back to Milan where you will get in the early evening.
