About this activity
The tour starts from the archaeological area underneath the Cathedral. Follow in the footsteps of St. Ambrose, the patron saint of Milan, and St. Augustine to discover the Baptistery of St. John and the Church of Santa Tecla. Built during the 4th century and demolished in the Medieval Age to make space for the Cathedral, the ruins on this archaeological site were discovered in 1961. You will see a magnificent example of an octagonal early Christian Baptistery and learn about daily life in Milan during the Roman Age, when the city was capital of the Empire.
A short walk from the archaeological area and you will reach the inside of the Cathedral. It is the most iconic monument of the city of Milan and one of the biggest churches in the world. With its 3,400 statues, 55 stained glass windows, beautiful altars and paintings, the Duomo is the most important example of Gothic style in Northern Italy. Learn about the history of the construction and look at Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern artworks.
The elevator takes you up to the roof, where you will see spires and sculptures close-up. Climb 50 steps to reach the highest Terraces and walk near the main spire, which hosts the golden statue of the Virgin. Enjoy a magnificent view of the city, discover monuments and landmarks with your guide and, on bright days, you will even see the Alps.

a very tough old tour, highly recommended. Our guide moved too fast for the older people in our group and spoke very, very fast. We were okay with it, but just an FYI.
It was great experience
Wonderful view of the city and get to know much about it's rich history.
Amazing tour with great access in a smaller group. Be prepared to climb, although there are stages to the climb so you can head down with the guide if you don't want to go all the way to the top. Incredible to get so close to the painted inside of the Dome and see the figures up close.
Amazing! the architecture was breath taking.
When I purchased this tour I underestimated the Italian trains running anywhere close to on time and our group missed the tour after a late arrival to the city. However, once we arrived only about 20 minutes late we went straight to the ticket office and explained our situation. The lady at the help desk was so nice and took care of everything. Our tour group had already left and there wasn't a way we could join up with them but we were still able to do the entire tour on our own. Which was fine with my group since we initially thought it wasn't going to be an option. What we also didn't think of when planning the date of the trip was that we were visiting on Palm Sunday so even though we purchased the skip the line tour we had to wait for over an hour due to the crowds and security checks. Thankfully it was a sunny, cool day so the wait wasn't unbearable. And it was totally worth it. If you think that once you've seen a big church in Italy, you've seen the all, you're totally wrong. You need to see the Duomo because it is stunning. I even thought it was more beautiful than the Vatican.
The tour itself is good, and I would definitely recommend. However getting the ticket and into the Duomo was absolute chaos!! I think it would have been worse without this pass though. So I would recommend it.
