About this activity

Isola Bella is an extraordinary place where blooming gardens intertwine with architectural treasures. The Palace is a Baroque architectural wonder with beautiful rooms where you can enjoy the view of the lake; it houses the General Berthier Gallery, composed of over 130 paintings which, with the Sala del Trono (Throne Room) and the Sala delle Regine (Queens Room), represent the heart of the Borromeo Collection.

Isola Madre is the largest of the Verbano islands: green vegetation and the Palace emerge from the waters of Lake Maggiore. The island is known worldwide for its marvelous botanical gardens. In the Palace, porcelain and liveries, paintings, decorated tapestries and brocades are precious details that enrich the residence, which was opened to the public in 1978.

Built on an island of calcareous rock in the southern part of Lake Maggiore, the Rocca di Angera was acquired by the Borromeo family in 1449. Through the historic rooms, visitors can perceive the solemnity of the space, also highlighted by the paintings and portraits, as well as by the furnishings. Founded in 1988, the Doll and Toy Museum is one of the largest in Europe of its genre. The collection includes more than a thousand dolls created from the eighteenth century onwards with ancient traditions and materials: from wood to wax, from paper-mâché to porcelain, and much more.

The Villa Pallavicino Park is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore, nestled in one of the most evocative spots in the region. Extended over an area of approximately 200,000 sqm, this place of peace alternates tree-lined avenues with flowery meadows, as well as a rich botanical garden. Inside the Park, the farm is a unique area, free from cages, suitable for children and families. Here you will find fallow deer, llamas and goats that roam free, surrounded by nature - running through the meadows or resting sleepy in the shade of leafy branches.
