Verona and Garda Lake day-trip from Milan
Immerse yourself in a full-day experience filled with romanticism, "dolce vita" and refreshments in Verona.
Start your day in Sirmione, a lovely medieval town with a lively atmosphere which is set on a peninsula that stretches for about 4km into the coloured water of Lake Garda, the biggest lake of Italy.
You'll take a private boat tour around the peninsula, during which your guide will carefully carry you into the history of this place inhabited since Roman time.
Sirmione boasts, historical monuments like the famous "Grottoes of Catullus" and former Maria Callas' villa, a wonderfull castle (Castello Scaligero), a rare example of lake fortification, built by the Scaliger family to protect the lower parte of the lake. With its typical swallowtail battlements and its “darsena”, the dock, this castle represents a unique attraction.
After lunch you will then head to Verona, a city that is is worldwide known for being the city of unrequited love, the place where the story of Shakespeare’s Rome and Juliet was set. Following your guide, explore the most important places in town starting from Piazza Bra with its elegant and charming palaces along the “Listone”, the very famous pavement in pink limestone.
You won't miss the most important roman monument, the Arena, an amphitheatre still famous nowdays for the international lyric festival and of course the world-wide famous Juliet's balcony, a must for everyone visiting Verona. Other secret spots will be unvealed.
