About this activity
This day-trip from Milan in a comfortable mini-van, is for those who want to allow themselves an intense full day made of romanticism, "Dolce Vita" and refreshment. We'll start the day in Sirmione, a lovely medieval town with a lively atmosphere which is set on a peninsula that stretches for about 4km into the colored water of Lake Garda, the biggest lake of Italy.
We'll start taking a private boat tour around the peninsula, during which our guide will carefully carry you into the history of this place inhabited since Roman times. Our guide will carefully carry you into the history of this site. Sirmione boasts, among other historical monuments such as Grottoes of Catullo and former Maria Callas' villa, a wonderful castle ( Castello Scaligero), a rare example of lake fortification, built by the Scaliger family to protect the lower parte of the lake. With its typical swallowtail battlements and its “darsena”, the dock, this castle represents a unique attraction. After a free lunch break (45 minutes) we'll then head to Verona, a city that is is worldwide known for being the city of unrequited love, the place where the story of Shakespeare’s Rome and Juliet was set. Our guide will carefully show you the most important places in town starting from Piazza Bra with its elegant and charming palaces along the “Listone”, the very famous pavement in pink limestone. We won't miss the most important roman monument, the Arena, an amphitheatre still famous nowdays for the international lyric festival and of course the world-wide famous Juliet's balcony, a must for everyone visiting Verona. Many other ther secret spots will be unvealed... We won't leave Verona without having tasted a glass of local prosecco! The return to Milan is scheduled in the late afternoon.
