About this activity
Tucked away along the shores of Lake Michigan, halfway between Milwaukee and Sheboygan, lies the small town of Belgium, WI. Home to less than 2,000 inhabitants and dozens of small farms, the area has a rich history of European immigration and cultural diversity dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. Although many Germans, French, and Swiss made it to the shores of the lake during this golden age of American expansion and immigration, it was the tiny duchy of Luxembourg that looms large to many of the residents of this small Wisconsin town.

The Cultural Center offers you an intimate opportunity to learn more about one of Europe's smallest nations and the people who called it their home. See exhibits explaining the way of life many of these people left behind and why they were so desperate to build new ones in the American midwest. Find out what this new life was like along the shores of the Lake Michigan and how the communities and culture these people built impact the town today. If you are of Luxembourger decent, you can investigate at the research library and try to match your family lineage to records dating back to the 1640s.

The Museum is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and by appointment during normal business hours the rest of the week.
