About this activity
Your tour starts at the port of Monaco once your ship docks. You can start at any time you'd like, but 9 a.m. is recommended. Your itinerary is flexible, but below is a sample itinerary.

From Monaco port, head to the castle hill. Magnificent palaces, casinos, luxury shops, and exotic gardens are waiting for you. Your guide will tell you the fascinating story of a sovereign state between Nice and the Italian border, that perfectly captures the essence of the Côte d'Azur with its palaces in the rococo style, gardens, world-famous casinos, and glamour of the royal family. There will also be some free time during which you can see the changing of the guard in front of the palace of the Prince, take pictures or buy souvenirs.

Next, head to Monte Carlo. By car, drive along the famous Grand Pris Formula One racetrack. Visit the Monte Carlo casino, and can enjoy an optional walk around the Japanese Garden.

After Monaco, go to Eze. Take a stroll through the old town with your guide. This old village is huddled around a substantial medieval fortress, with rocks and houses of similar hues blending into each other. Afterward, your guide takes you to the Fragonard perfume factory near the town of Eze. It offers you the opportunity to learn all the stages of perfume production. Your guide will take you for a tour of the factory. Make sure you peruse the factory shop, where you can treat yourself to a wonderful new perfume (own expense).

Your guide will then take you to the Old Town of Nice. You will drive across the Promenade des Anglais, this wide promenade, facing south and flanking the sea along its entire length, provides wonderful views of the Baie des Anges and a popular place for a lengthy stroll. The guide will show you the famous architectural buildings located on the Promenade des Anglais: Hotel Negresco, the Massena Museum, Mediterranean Palace and we will stop in front of the Old Town near the Apolonia monument on the Square Massena.

Take a stroll through the old town with your guide. A visit begins on the Cours Saleya where are many small and cozy shops and restaurants, this elegant Baroque square is home to the famous flower and vegetable market. You will visit the Cathedrale Ste-Reparate built in 1650 by local architect JA Gilberto in honour of Nice's patron saint, the cathedral is topped by an 18c dell tower and tiles that stands out on the Nice skyline. There will also be some free time during which you can take pictures or buy souvenirs.

The tour finishes as your guide drops you off at port of call.

We had a nice day with Daniel. He was a bit late due to traffic in the area. He recommended a cafe for lunch near the casino. I would not recommend eating at Cafe du Paris. The waiter was very rude to Americans. The stop at the perfume factory was a bit of a waste of time. We would not do that again. Nice was pretty.

We saw all of Monaco and Monte Carlo before the crowds appeared somthat was great. We then drove to Nice and to Eze. The driving is wild, narrow roads, tons of traffic. Not a lot of guided tour info, mostly dropped at locations for free time to wander the sights and towns. I would have preferred more guiding and less free time. Also the guide had another tour after us and even though she was late she dropped us off early so not pleased about that.

We booked this tour after reading the reviews on the Viator site. We could not have been more pleased! Our tour guide Melina was knowledgeable, helpful and charming. She was well prepared and made our tour interesting, relaxing and enjoyable. We never felt rushed and she was responsive to any requests we made regarding places to stop and visit.

One of 2 best tours of trip. Melina, our driver/guide was right on time. Van was comfortable. With just my friend and I as passengers we got very personal attention. Took us to the Palace and pointed out the sights and where to get tickets for the palace tour. Explained meeting time and location, but told us to take our time-if we needed 15 extra minutes for shopping, not to worry. Drove us around Monte Carlo and described the locations. Then we were off to Eze, where she dropped us up as far as she could and told us when and where to meet back. We walked climbed around, shopped and ate lunch at a little café. Then she drove us to Nice and we stopped at a few scenic views and town. On the way back she asked us if we wanted to be dropped off at the ship or at the Casino. Since it was time for the Casino to open, we opted for the Casino. She showed us how we could get back to the ship. Melina was absolutely terrific--friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. Definitely highly recommend this excursion.

I highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide was superb. She took us every place, and allowed us to take our time and shop and see the sights. She was very knowledgeable about the area, and we didn't miss a thing thanks to her. Even when our car broke down, she fixed it immediately and extended our time due to the mishap. Loved it!

Our driver Alex was a little late arriving at the port to pick us up. After that the trip went well. The tour was only for 1/2 a day but we managed to see a lot of the sights in Monaco including the Casino, the Royal Palace and we even made it into Nice, France.
