About this activity
The Uruguayan wine region is one of South America's smallest and you'll get to taste a variety of wines including the famous Tannat grape. Your experience begins as you are picked up from your Montevideo Hotel or Port and whisked off to a 4th generation family winery now in their 108th year dating back to 1910.
This will be a private visit for a more personal, educational and intimate experience. You will get to visit the vineyards, learn how they age their wines in the cellar and see their choice of oak barrels. The winery’s history of winemaking in Uruguay is a family affair, and you’ll learn about their love of the vines before enjoying a tasting of many different varietals including the famous Tannat grape, now recognized as the world's healthiest red wine, due to high antioxidants, resveratrol, polyphenols in the seeds and skins that lowers blood pressure and protects against cardiovascular diseases!
You will then get to taste wines before and during a Traditional Uruguayan Lunch facing the vineyard in a beautiful setting before returning you back to your place of residence with very happy fond memories!

A wonderful experience with Ryan Hamilton. Very knowledgeable. A great visit and tasting at the Carrau vineyard hosted by the owner himself. Excellent sampling of five of their products, and a chance to buy a couple of our favourites. Lunch was great fun, prepared by one of Montevideo's premier chefs, and accompanied by a couple of Ryan's favourite wines. Can't recommend this one highly enough!
