Your 4-hour tour starts from a famous Moscow attraction - the elegant Manezhnaya square (Kutafya Tower), a large pedestrian open space with beautiful fountains and fairy-tale monuments.

The name of the Manezh Square comes from building an arena, built in 1817 in honor of the fifth anniversary of Russia's victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. It is worth saying that the name "Manezh" appeared only in 1937 after the demolition of standing in this place shopping areas of buildings, separated by a two-lane - patchwork and insatiable. Prior to that, the area was densely built up. In the nineties of the twentieth century under the Manege Square was built a large underground shopping complex "Ryad".

At the end of the 15th century, Princess Sophia Vitovtovna, daughter of Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitovt and wife of Grand Duke of Moscow Vasily I, bought the village of Vorobievo from an Orthodox priest, nicknamed Sparrow. According to one version, it is to him that Sparrow owes his name. After the sale, the village became first the grand-ducal, and then the royal summer residence. Since the end of the 19th century, Sparrow Hills is a popular summer residence. In the years 1924-1991, Sparrow Hills were called Lenin Hills in honor of Lenin. The name of the area "Lenin Hills" was unofficial, it was introduced into use by Lazar Kaganovich. It was common: officially the Sparrow Hills always remained the Sparrow Hills. Today, this park offers the most magnificent and beautiful view of Moscow - it’s not for nothing that the capital’s most famous observation deck is located here.

Stop At: Memorial Mosque On Poklonnaya Hill, Minskaya St., 2B Metro Park Pobedy, Moscow 121096 Russia

Travel to the historic area known as Poklonnaya Hill, one of the highest spots in Moscow, which offers a beautiful panoramic view.

Poklonnaya (Bow) Hill is a notable place, connected with the various historical events in Russia. Once, this gently sloping hill was located far outside Moscow, and from its summit the spectacular view of the city opened. Travelers stopped there to have look at Moscow and bow to her: hence the name of the hill. It was on Poklonnaya Hill that Napoleon vainly waited for the keys to Moscow; it was there that the soldiers went to the front to defend the Motherland during WWII.

That is why Poklonnaya Hill became the symbol of Russia's victory over foreign aggressors. In connection with the past events the large memorial dedicated to the Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941 – 1945 with a park, monuments, museums, and churches was created.

Only on February 23, 1958 Poklonnaya Hill received the memorial sign saying “There will be erected the monument in the honor of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”; later the Victory Park was planted there.

I was very disappointed with the standard of the tour. The guide had no structure or plan and we had to remind him of the main attractions listed in the description on the website. He's English wasn't very good and he couldn't answer basic question. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.
