About this activity
Meet at home-chef Vinita's home in Kalyani Nagar, Pune as she welcomes you with a refreshing and cool glass of Jaljeera. After a few pleasantries, Vinita will introduce the cuisine to you along with the different dishes she has prepared. You can then head to the kitchen to begin your cooking class. You will learn to make Dal Pakoda (lentil fritters) right from scratch which involves making the pakoda mix and then frying them. The next dish that you will learn will be the Stuffed green chilli. Once you stuff the big sized green chilli, you will mix it in the batter and then fry them. Feel free to ask about the use of Indian spices in everyday cooking, post the cooking session, you can sit back relax and enjoy the sumptuous meal with Vinita and her family.

Some of the dishes that may be included in the menu will be Pyaaz ki Kachori (Mildly spicy crispy wheat balls stuffed with onions), Dal ki Pakodi (Fried moong chilka dal dumplings), Panchmel Dal (A dal preparation made with 5 varieties of lentils), Churma (Sweet powder made with wheat flour and jaggery), Gatte ki Sabzi (Small pieces of steamed chickpea dumplings in a sumptuous yogurt and tomato gravy), Rasgulla Sabzi (White rasgulla with a delicious Rajasthani onion and tomato gravy.). This will be served with Bajre ki Roti (Hand beaten roti made from freshly home ground pearl millet flour), and Baati with desi Ghee (Wheat dumplings soaked in hot desi ghee).

For dessert Vinita will serve you with Moong dal Halwa (Fried moong dal with jaggery in desi ghee topped with raisins and almonds) and the meal experience will end with homemade Paan (Home grown betel leaves with a special home made filling ).

Please Note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
