Constructed in the 20th century, this arch was built as a tribute to the British Royals on their visit to India. The Gateway of India overlooks the Arabian Sea and welcomes visitors in large numbers every single day. It has an intricate blend of the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture. Previously utilized by the fishermen community, today it ranks among the city’s top tourist attractions.

Constructed lavishly in 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, today it is the headquarters of the Central Railways in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was previously known as Victoria Terminus. It is one of the busiest railway stations and has been altered as per the prevailing need of the time. At the same time, the building still retains the architectural beauty in its originality. The central dome is mounted with a statue which upholds progress.

The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world with 3 campuses in the city. It was established by the British in 1857 as a model on the lines of the University of London. Today, it offers Masters, Bachelors, and Doctoral courses alongside numerous certificate programs.

This is one of the oldest courts in India, the construction of which was completed in 1878. Even though the name of the city was changed to Mumbai, the court still carries the old name. The states of Maharashtra and Goa and the Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli fall under its jurisdiction.

An open-air Laundromat, the Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat was built in the year 1890. It is a washing place spread over a large area and is the world’s largest outdoor washing laundry and has been a famous tourist attraction over the years. It houses the families of the dhobis who toil through the day to deliver their job.

Stop At: 19 Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum Laburnam Rd Gamdevi, Mumbai 400007 India

Mani Bhavan is a historical building which was once a house to the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi.Visitors pay tribute to a statue of Gandhiji that is in the Bhavan. Today, it has been converted into a museum and displays some of his personal belongings, as well as a room full of pictures from his boyhood days right up to his assassination.

Situated opposite to the Hanging Gardens, the Kamla Nehru Park is located on the Malabar Hill. It offers a breathtaking view of Marine Drive and the Queen’s Necklace. It is one of the most popular gardens in the city. Here, the railings take inspiration from the abacus style. It houses the old woman’s shoe, the construction of which is inspired by a nursery rhyme. It has an amphitheater spread over a large area and has been decorated with rainbow colors.

Stop At: Hanging Gardens (Ferozeshah Mehta), Malabar Hill, Mumbai 400075 India

Laid over Mumbai’s main reservoir, this garden was built in 1881. As it is located on the Malabar Hill slope, it got the name of ‘Hanging Gardens’. The garden is just opposite the Kamla Nehru Park. It offers picturesque sunset views of the Arabian Sea and has mini animal-shaped structures spread throughout the garden

Officially called the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road, today Marine Drive is famously referred to as the Queen’s Necklace. It got its name after the view of the street lights at night that resemble the pearls of a necklace when viewed from an elevation. It has always been a favorite go-to place of the locals

Similar to the Gateway of India, this museum was built in the 20th century with aid from the government to commemorate the visit of the then Prince of Wales: King George V. It was renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangralaya in 1998

Named after a statue of King George V, Kala Ghoda literally means a black horse. It houses many art and heritage-rich monuments, galleries, and buildings.

Stop At: David Sassoon Library and Reading Room, 152 David Sassoon Library Marg Library Marg, Fort, Mumbai 400001 India

A heritage building, it is situated at the centre of this city. Completed in 1870, it overlooks Kala Ghoda and was built from yellow Malad stone. A white stone effigy of David Sassoon is mounted at the entrance. It was one of a kind library right from its inaugural.
