Metal and plastic comes from all over the world to Dharavi to be recycled. See the entire recycling process from sorting to the finished plastic pellets.

Community Centre

Our Community Centre, supported by funds from the tour, provides education in English, computers and life skills to the teenagers and young adults of Dharavi. Other activities such as sports, dancing, and yoga are also hosted at our community centers.

Popaddom Making

Two tons of food is produced every day in Dharavi and a large part of that is popaddoms, the essential appetizer or side dish of many Indian meals. They are typically made by women in Dharavi in the residential areas.

Kumbharwada Pottery Colony

The Kumbbharwada neighborhood is more than 150 years old and is the oldest part of Dharavi. Artisans create various types of earthen pots that are shipped all over India.

Girgaum Chowpatty, is a public beach along the Queen’s Necklace adjoining Marine Drive in the Girgaon area of Mumbai, India

The Hanging Gardens spread out over a vast area that offers plenty of green space and trees amongst the heavily congested South Mumbai. Along with numerous hedges carved into the shapes of animals, the gardens feature a prominent flower clock at its very center. Another source of attraction for tourists is the ‘Old Woman’s Shoe’ or the ‘Boot House’ – a giant boot structure made out of stone and brick. Children can climb into the house. In addition, the spectacular view of the Arabian Sea offered by the gardens is its main highlight and tourists flock to the park during late evenings to take in one of the most beautiful sunset views in the city.
