About this activity
Meet-up with your guide in the morning and start your journey by visiting the 250 year old Benedictine Abbey Church of St. Marinus and Anianus which is located close to Wieskirche, one of the finest and purest Rococo churches in Bavaria.
Our next stop will the medieval town of Wasserburg am Inn. The city lies on a peninsula and is framed by the river "Inn". First though, we will stop at a viewing platform, so you can take beautiful photos of the city. From there, it is a 5 minute walk, downhill, to the Old Town. Along the way, we will pass through a 500 year old town gate. During the stay in the city, you will become enchanted with it’s charm, as there is a lot to admire and discover; like the pastel colored walls, bay windows, battlements, the medieval gate, and many other hidden gems. The streets invite you to explore and there will be time to enjoy a cup of coffee, so we can have a taste of the Italian flair before we begin the drive to Prien.
After arriving in Prien, we will take a ferry out to the Frauenchiemsee, or Women’s Island. It is a charming island in the middle of Lake Chiemsee, and you will have time to have lunch and explore the island. The main attraction on the island is the still functioning women’s benedictine monastery. After that, we take a ferry to the largest island of Lake Chiemsee, the Herrenchiemsee, or Men’s Island. We can either make our way to the castle via horse drawn carriage or by foot, which will take approximately 15 minutes. The castle was built by King Ludwig II as a copy of The Palace of Versailles, and it is admired as one of the main attractions to see in Germany. After completing our visit to the castle, we will begin our journey back to Munich.

It was a lovely tour. Werner was a very good guide. He picked us up at our hotel on time, had a very comfortable minivan, and showed us some lovely places on our way to see Herrenchiemsee Palace. The carriage ride to the Palace was a great help to my husband who has trouble walking a distance.
