About this activity
Choose by yourself which points you want to visit during the sightseeing tour
Here are our suggestions:
Royal Castle Tour
Treat yourself like royalty and tour the King Ludwig II castles. Most famous is Neuschwanstein. New Swanstone Castle is located on a rugged hill above Füssen, in the midst of nature next to the Austrian border. Also the Linderhof palace is nestled between mountains. They are perfect examples of the “Märchenkönig’s” exquisite taste. He partly grew up in Hohenschwangau Castle. We also drive the famous Romantic Road to Oberammergau, where you see beautiful examples of traditional woodcarvings. Finally, we see Ettal Abbey, a jewel of Bavarian baroque architecture and it was Neuschwanstein, which inspired Walt Disney to built his Magic Castle.
Nuremberg
Quintessential Germany: Nuremberg is a true gem and must-see attraction. This largest Franconian city presents gothic churches and half-timbered houses within a medieval city wall in the shadow of the towering imperial castle. It was the most important residence of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. The city’s rich history spans from medieval times over Albrecht Dürer to the Nuremberg trials. Culinary expectations are met by Christmas ginger bread, the famous Nuremberg sausage with sauerkraut and a wide range of local breweries.
Salzburg
The sound of Music: Heading towards Salzburg, one passes by Chiemsee and the Bavarian Alps, which are already worthwhile experiences on their own. But arriving in Salzburg that is also called the “Rome of the North”, you know it is a highlight you should not miss. The Prince-Archbishops contributed to this city’s world-famous shape with the erection of cathedrals, churches and castles extending over more than 1000 years. Salzburg is also the home of W.A. Mozart, which makes this city the capital of music, and the annual Salzburg Festival attracts music aficionados from around the world.
Additionally to these highlights, it is possible to include a selection of further attractions in this tour. What we recommend is to head for the Deutsches Museum, the New Synagogue, the Isar river with the Hellabrunn Zoo or the famous Bavaria Filmstudios.
