Itinerary
The trips starts with a drive to Jebal Shams base camp, 3 hours from Muscat. We'll set up camp there and hike to the summit the following morning (Friday). Camp on the second night will be half way down from the summit and we'll continue back to base camp Saturday, then drive back to Muscat.
Start - Thursday at 3 PM
End - Saturday at 2 PM
Note: night departure option is available sometimes – Check with registration team.
Difficulty Level:
Medium if you are fit, difficult if you are unfit
Danger Level: Low – Hike is marked and safe trail – Cell reception available most the way.
Meeting point:
Husaak Center - Muscat
This is a hike to the highest point in the Gulf, Jebal Shams. The hike is roughly 10 km each way with a net elevation gain of around 1600m. The trail is marked and the terrain is rocky. This hike can be physically challenging, especially for those not used to hiking on rough terrain. It is a non-technical hike, we do however recommend ankle support hiking boots and 1 hiking pole.
