Drive through the city to see Old Muscat, Al Alam Palace where the Sultan receives his state guests. The palace is flanked by two Portuguese fortresses, Al Jalali (1578) to the right and Al Mirani (1581) to the left. Pass by the panoramic corniche and Muttrah Souk,the oldest and largest market in the country. This is a time for you to shop for your Omani souvenirs.
