About this activity
08:30 Am departure to the interior of Oman. Visit the oasis city of Nizwa, once the capital during the Julanda Dynasty in the 6th and 7th Century AD. Today it is one of the most popular tourist attractions with its historical buildings and imposing fort. The Nizwa Fort stands as a vivid reminder of the important status that the city of Nizwa once held as the political and cultural capital of Oman. Nizwa is also famous for its silver jewellery and handmade Omani daggers (khanjar) which can be found in the Nizwa Souq , it is the place to shop for souvenirs. Continue to Bahla, thought to be one of the oldest forts in Oman known for its pottery workshops and its huge clay fort (photo stop only). Then proceed to visit Oman’s most beautiful Fort the Jabreen Castle which is over 300 years old and considered to be one of Oman’s most fascinating & attractive buildings with its intricately decorated interior. Return to Muscat.

Important Note: Every Friday morning an interesting cattle auction is held in Nizwa (except in hot summer months/Ramadan/public holidays). Should you wish to include this in the tour you will have to leave Muscat at 07h00 at the latest! Also note that forts are only open until 11h00 on Fridays. Therefore it might not be possible to visit Jabreen fort if the tour is operated on a Friday.
