Deo promptly picked us up at 9am to start our tour, we were expecting a mini bus but was pleasantly surprised to have a personal driver. We were offered Fiji water to start our trip. Deo was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions about the history and culture about Fiji. We first stopped in Sigatoka at the gift shop, about 20 mins, we took our time and we browsed for while and bought a few items. Then we stopped a school and spoke to the children and teachers or about 20 -30 mins. then we went to a Fijian pottery village and Sonny was our amazing guide. I was wearing shorts and Deo was very well prepared with a Sari for me to wear in the village, as it was seen as a mark of respect to cover your legs. We participated in a Cava ceremony and a fijian dance, watched pottery being made as well as having the opportunity to purchase some. Deo offered us fresh pineapple and coke cola on our tour. the pineapple was so sweet and a welcome nibble during the day. We went to the Hindu Temple, and met Jiyoti who explained about the Hindu culture and temple, this was fascinating. You will have to take your shoes off at the temple so bring socks, try not to use the bathrooms here they are a little old and worn. We then went to the bustling and vibrant market in Sigatoka. We didn't stop for lunch at our request but It was definitely a full day and we returned to our hotel at 3.30pm. Deo was great , funny, pleasant, attentive and really made the trip enjoyable A really good way to experience Fiji, glad we booked.
