About this activity
Begin your day with Nagoya hotel pick-up between 8:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m. Your private driver will take you to Gifu prefecture, located north of Nagoya, and it will take around 2.5 hours to reach the first famous travel spot, the main street of Hida Takayama. Once there, you will have around 90 minutes to slowly enjoy walking on this unique street, called "little Kyoto" by local people. Choose a restaurant you like while strolling and have your lunch individually. Don't forget to buy some local gift as special souvenirs.
※If you already visited Hida Takayama, you can visit Hida Furukawa instead. Hida Furukawa has become very popular among anime lovers, since you can see the real-life locations used in Makoto Shinkai's latest animated film.
If you would like to change the itinerary, please let us know before the actual tour day.
Afterwards, you will head to the World Heritage site "Shirakawago". Shirakawago is famous for the thatched-roof farmhouses representative of traditional Japanese architectural history. The construction method for the farmhouses is called “Gassho-zukuri”, which refers to the shape of the roofing that looks like a person's hands put together to pray. You can take your time to walk around there for 70 minutes and buy some local delicious snacks from the small stores in the village.
After a whole day in Gifu prefecture, you will be driven back to your Nagoya hotel between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. depending on your chosen pickup time.
