Explore the Mara Conservancies by Foot

6 days
About this activity
Day 1 Depart in the early morning to fly from Wilson airport out to the Mara. A day on safari at Naboisho Camp enjoying traditional safari activities such as game drives or village visits. In the evening, you’ll meet your specialist guide, Roelof, for a briefing about the expedition ahead. Overnight: Naboisho Camp

Day 2 Start your walking safari through the Naboisho Conservancy heading west. You’ll stop for a rest and lunch in a shady spot, or, depending on the group and weather, stop for snacks and arrive at Topi House for a late lunch. Settle into your room/s at Topi House and relax in the comfortable lounge or on the terrace for the rest of the afternoon, enjoying the warm hospitality of the staff here.

Day 3 Walk through the Olare Orok Conservancy, heading westwards, trekking approximately 20 kilometres to the Mara North Conservancy where you will stay tonight in a fly camp. This is a big day of walking but crosses some stunning landscapes along the way, through savannah and acacia woodland. The evening is spent enjoying a campfire-cooked dinner, drinks around the fire, and spectacular stargazing if the sky is clear, and you will fall asleep to the sounds of the bush all around you. Overnight at Mara North Fly Camp

Day 4 Today, you’ll walk through the Mara North Conservancy towards the Mara River where you will stop for a picnic lunch and time to rest your legs. In the afternoon, walk onward to Lemek/Ol Chorro Conservancy where your fly camp and the team will await you, having moved during the day while you were walking. You will have covered approximately 20km on foot during the day. Overnight: Lemek or Ol Chorro fly camp.

Day 5 Your final full day of walking, visiting the Ol Chorro white rhino sanctuary where you can walk on foot with the three resident white rhinos. Enjoy one last hike up the Kilileoni Hill where you can stop at the top to enjoy views stretching out across the vast expanse of the Masai Mara before making your way to Mara or Acacia House for a late lunch. The afternoon can be spent enjoying some well-earned rest beside the swimming pool and enjoying a celebratory barbeque feast for dinner overlooking the waterhole. Overnight: Mara or Acacia House.

Day 6 A relaxed morning and breakfast at Mara or Acacia House before you are driven to the Mara North airstrip for your flight out of the Mara. Upon landing at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta airport to connect to your outbound international flight.
