About this activity
What You Can Expect:
we pick you up in your hotel of stay and at this point its where our adventure begins. However Pick – up from your hotel can vary depending on location.
As we tour the city, we see the most interesting elements of Nairobi. First stop is Nairobi National Park - where you get to see animals such as Rhinos, leopards, lions, giraffes, topi, wildebeest, zebras, elands, hartebeest, dig dig among many others. The park is a glorious stretch of savannah set against the backdrop of Nairobi's glittering skyline, Nairobi National Park's relatively small size makes it all the easier to see all it has to offer in one day.Home to four of the Big Five (the elephant being the notable absence), Nairobi National Park is also home to ostriches, buffalo, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, antelopes, gazelles, and plenty more. At around 10:30 you will proceed to David Sheldrick's Animal Orphanage
David Sheldrick is a world–class conservation figure and the premier authority on the successful raising of milk–dependent infant elephant and rhino orphans. David Sheldrick's Animal Orphanage, can be only be visited for an hour every day between 11 am and noon. During this hour the baby elephants are brought out to play and to feed, and visitors can watch them from behind a rope. Wardens are on hand to explain the work of the orphanage and to answer any questions. Then proceed to have your Lunch at Park Place Hotel.
From here the tour takes you to the Giraffe Centre, an elevated treetop area where you may hand feed giraffes, quite literally face–to–face. Established by Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville in 1979 as a sanctuary for the rare Rothschild giraffe, the centre has a feeding platform where they exchange kisses with visitors for pelleted food. Here a resident expert also presents a private briefing on the Centre’s work to save the endangered Rothschild giraffe.
After this you visit Karen Blixen Museum. Located on the outskirts of Nairobi on Karen road. Its history dates back to 1914, during the First World War, with the arrival of Karen Blixen from Denmark. At the foot of Ngong Hills, Karen Blixen established herself as a farmer. After her departure in 1931, the suburbs retained the commemorative home of Karen. The Danish government donated the house, and the surrounding land to Kenya after independence. The house was restored by the Danish government, and was used during the filming of "Out of Africa" which immortalized Karen Blixen's book by the same name. The museum was opened to the public in 1986. Lastly you visit kazuri beads. KAZURI, which means “small and beautiful” in Swahili, begani in 1975 as a tiny workshop experimenting on making handmade beads. The factory is located in what used to be part of the Karen Blixen Estate (of the Academy Award winning film "Out of Africa" fame.
Then we drop you off at your hotel of stay.
