Pitt Head Walk

Start with a 45 minute cruise by boat from Astrolabe Roadstead where you’ll be taken to the paradise center of the park, Anchorage Beach. Once you disembark, you have the choice to stay on the beach to sunbathe, have some lunch, or just relax. Or, for more adventurous types, go on any of the three strolls available, depending on how much of a challenge you’re looking for. Go for a dip at Te Pukatea Bay, hike to the Manuka forest to end up at Maori Pa, an ancient fortified village, or take a walk to Cleopatra’s Pool and slide down a stunning natural water slide - the choice is yours! Your time exploring Anchorage Beach and the surrounding area is unguided so you’re free to explore as you wish and enjoy the outstanding nature on your own time. How To Get There:
- Located between the Shoreline Cafe and Kaiteriteri Camp Shop, across the road from the main beach
- 1.5 hours drive from Nelson or 3.5 hours drive from Picton
What To Bring:
- Bring your own water and packed lunch
- If you plan to swim, don’t forget to bring extra clothes, preferrably warm and towels. It can get really cold especially after swimming
- Do not wear denim - it gets heavy and dries slowly
- Light, comfortable walking shoes (hiking shoes are not necessary)
