Stop At: Chandni Chowk, Near Red Fort, New Delhi 110006 India
Get picked up from your hotel at 7am and proceed for an extra-ordinary morning tasting the delectable flavors of Old Delhi, the food capital of India. The usually chaotic by-lanes of Old Delhi are somewhat serene in the mornings and hence it is the best time to visit the ancient quarters. Reach the Chawri Bazaar metro station, where you meet our Food expert and begin your culinary quest into the historical streets of Delhi.
Walk past the Chandni Chowk area and witness the glory that Mughals left behind. In the company of your expert food guide, stroll through the splendor of Delhi’s time-worn architecture and devour the ambrosial tastes of bedmi pooris, a deep-fried bread made of wheat flour, spices and pulses and served with hot-potato curry. Walking ahead taste chole kulche, a punjabi delicacy served with hot bread and spicy chick peas.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Fatehpuri Mosque, Chandni Chowk Near Red Fort, New Delhi 110002 India
The non-stop food trail passes through the Fatehpuri Mosque and Matia Mahal, covering various mouth-watering dishes like nahari, a sumptuous non-vegetarian dish cooked overnight with hot curry, and paaye, a traditional Indian delight made of goat’s trotters. Every dish has its own interesting tale and your food guide will narrate to you the historical stories related to their origin.
For drinks you’ll have a chilled glass of lassi, a heavenly delight made of sweetened yogurt and fruit. Eating your way around the capital, indulge in your sweet tooth and savor a variety of desserts including nagori halwa, small crispy bread made of semolina and served with sweet semolina cake, sev badam, a traditional Sindhi dessert made of almonds and flavored sugar and gulab jamun, a unique milk based sweet popular in the sub-continent.
Having tasted most of Delhi’s best known dishes, you’ll be dropped back to the chawri bazar metro station with a full stomach and tangy taste that will remain in your mouth forever.
